\norganizes\u00a0the\u00a0annual Yannis Behrakis International Photojournalism Award for professional photojournalists.<\/p>\n

At its inaugural event, Athens Photo World will award a 15,000 \u20ac cash prize to a completed project of reportage or documentary photography, created within the last 3 years.<\/p>\n

Those wishing to participate should send a portfolio up to twenty-four (24) photographs, with captions or file infoand a supporting text\/story (200-250 words)\u00a0until Sunday, August 31, 2019.<\/p>\n

Jury members will receive the submitted works, without any info regarding the entrants\u2019 identity, directly from the\u00a0webhosting company. All metadata\u00a0will have been removed from the digital files.<\/p>\n

The awarded photographic project will be exhibited at the next Athens Photo World (2020) festival at an individual exhibition of the photographer.<\/p>\n

A new judging committee will be appointed every year, under the permanent chair of Elisavet Saridou Behrakis, according to the expressed wishes of Yannis Behrakis, regarding the establishment of the award.<\/p>\n

MaryAnne Golon, Assistant Managing Editor and Director of Photography at The Washington Post<\/p>\n

Santiago Lyon Director of Editorial Content at Adobe<\/p>\n

Lefteris Pitarakis, Associated Press Chief Photographer, Turkey, a close colleague and friend of Yannis Behrakis will serve as special advisor and assistant to the jury.<\/p>\n

Specifically, for 2019 and due to the exceptional circumstances of this year, the winner will be announced and the prize will be awarded\u00a0at a special event held in Athens late Sept. 2019.<\/p>\n

From next year on (2020) the submissions open at the 31 st \u00a0of December and close at the 30 st \u00a0of April.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner]

Entry rules:<\/h3><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner]
<\/div><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text]1.Participation in the competition is free of charge.
\n2. Participants must be professional photographers.
\n3. The photographic project to be submitted for evaluation must have been carried out between January 2016 and August 2019.
\n4. The photographic project submitted for evaluation should to be classified as a \u2018reportage\u2019 or \u2018documentary\u2019.
\n5. Files are to be sent at 72dpi and 2000pixels on the large side, with captions, written in English, in the file info field.
\n6. Participants must also send an accompanying text\/story, not exceeding 250 words.
\n7. The photographs must not have been subject to alterations or any kind of digital manipulation other than cropping and basic exposure, contrast and luminance correction.
\n8. Submissions should be sent in a folder(.zip) with the photographer\u2019s name and each file named with the photographer\u2019s name and the file number e.g.
\nGiorgos_Papadopoulos_01.jpeg
\n9. The finalists selected for the last round of judging will be required to produce the RAW image files as delivered by the camera.
\n10. The nominated winner will be required to produce the uploaded images with the original file size (unless cropped) in 300 dpi.
\n11. The winner will be required to produce evidence (identity or documents) of
\nprofessional engagement.
\n12. Participants must guarantee that they are the authors and copyright owners of the submitted photos.
\n13. The participants give to the organisers of Athens Photo World the right to use one of their photographs for the promotion of the competition (website, media and social media) both during the current event and in future ones.
\n14. The photos submitted to the contest remain the intellectual property of their
\ncreators.
